Devil's advocate: is the Pod 5 Ultra better than a $30 fan and a decent mattress?

Before the pitchforks come out: I know three Pod owners and all three would fight me over this post.

I've slept hot my whole life. A friend swears the Pod fixed his marriage (his words, not mine). But I keep wondering how much of this is real cooling tech and how much is just... a fan, expensively.
