Membership, Messages & Beta

The terms covering your account rather than a purchase: membership and points, the email we send and how to unsubscribe, and the fact that the service is still in beta.

Membership & Points Terms

Effective: August 9, 2026 · Last updated: August 9, 2026

1. Membership

1.1 MetaOriental membership is free. There is no fee, no subscription and no purchase requirement.

1.2 Membership gives you a profile, community access, the newsletter if you opt in, saved products and wishlists, quiz results, and eligibility for points and member features.

1.3 Membership is personal and non-transferable. One person, one account.

1.4 You may close your account at any time. Closing it cancels your points balance and member level.

1.5 Membership is subject to the Terms of Use, Privacy Policy and Community Guidelines.

2. Points — what they are and are not

2.1 Points are a promotional loyalty benefit we provide at our discretion. They are a limited, revocable licence to request a benefit under these Terms.

2.2 Points are not:

  • money, currency, legal tender or a cash equivalent;
  • a deposit, a stored-value balance, a gift card or a prepaid instrument;
  • your property, an asset, a security or a claim against MetaOriental;
  • redeemable for cash, refundable, or convertible into cash;
  • transferable, assignable, saleable, giftable, poolable, or inheritable, and they do not pass on death or by operation of law.

2.3 You cannot buy points, and points cannot be purchased with money or other consideration.

2.4 Points have no cash value and are not transferable or assignable. We do not assign points a monetary value.

2.5 Points are not part of any purchase price. Buying a product does not buy points; any points connected to a purchase are a promotional bonus.

2.6 What points currently do: points unlock member levels, badges and community standing. There is no redemption today — points cannot currently be exchanged for discounts, products or any other benefit. If we launch redemption, Sections 4 and 5 will apply from that day and we will announce it.

3. Earning points

3.1 Current earn values:

Saving a product to your wishlist100
Joining a product waitlist100
Generating a share link100

Expressing group-buy interest300

A referred friend saves a product500
Promotional activityAs stated in the promotion

3.2 Caps. Some activities have their own daily caps (for example, referral visits are capped at 1,000 points per day; community posts, created votes and community comments at 300 per day each; cast votes at 500 per day). Your total daily earn is capped by member level — 2,000 points per day at levels 1–2, 3,000 at level 3 and 5,000 at levels 4–5 — and total weekly earn is capped at 25,000 points. Current caps are shown in your account's points section.

3.3 New-account referral limit. To deter abuse, referral-related points earned by an account less than 7 days old are awarded at half value.

3.4 Member levels. Points accumulate toward levels (currently BOLO, CORO, SOULO, NOVO and ONEO at 0 / 1,000 / 5,000 / 20,000 / 50,000 lifetime points). The highest level is granted by manual review rather than automatically.

3.5 Points post to your account after the qualifying activity is recorded and verified.

3.6 Points are reversed where the underlying activity is reversed or was never genuine — a removed post or comment, content removed for violating our rules, cancelled or fraudulent referrals, or activity we determine to be inauthentic (including duplicate, coordinated or automated accounts).

3.7 Points are never awarded for a positive review, a particular rating, or the removal of a negative view. Community content earns points regardless of its conclusion.

3.8 We may change earn values, caps and qualifying activities prospectively; the account points section always shows the current table.

3.9 Disclosure reminder. Earning points for sharing links or referring friends is a material connection. When you share, say so — "I earn rewards points for referrals" is enough. See the Advertising & Affiliate Disclosure.

4. Redeeming points — effective only when redemption launches

4.1 If we launch redemption, points may be redeemed for the benefits shown in the member area — which may include discounts on eligible purchases, early access, entry to member activities, or promotional items — subject to availability.

4.2 Redemption will be final. Redeemed points are not restored if you later return the associated purchase; instead, any discount applied is deducted from your refund.

4.3 Minimum redemption thresholds and eligible-product restrictions may apply and will be shown at redemption.

4.4 We may change, limit, substitute or withdraw a redemption option at any time. Where a change materially reduces the value of points you already hold, we will give at least 30 days' notice and a reasonable opportunity to redeem first.

5. Expiry — effective only when redemption launches

5.1 From redemption launch, points will expire 24 months after they are earned, on a first-earned-first-used basis. Points earned before launch are treated as earned on the launch date. Until redemption launches, points do not expire.

5.2 We will notify you by email at least 30 days before points expire, provided you have a valid email on file and have not unsubscribed from account emails.

5.3 We do not charge inactivity, dormancy or maintenance fees against points.

5.4 Where applicable law requires a longer period, prohibits expiry, or requires different notice, that law prevails and we will apply it.

6. Unclaimed property

Where applicable state unclaimed property law treats an unredeemed balance as property that must be reported and delivered to a state, we will comply with that law rather than retain the balance. We do not treat expiry as a mechanism for us to keep value that the law says belongs to you or to a state.

7. Suspension and forfeiture

7.1 We may suspend, adjust or cancel points and member benefits where we reasonably believe there has been: fraud or manipulation; duplicate, coordinated or automated accounts; fake reviews or engagement; abuse of promotions; a serious or repeated breach of our rules; or a chargeback or unpaid balance.

7.2 On account termination for cause, points are forfeited.

7.3 Before cancelling a material balance for cause, we will notify you and give you an opportunity to respond, except where urgency, security, investigation or law prevents it.

8. Changes to the program

8.1 We may change these Terms and the program prospectively, with notice by in-product message, banner or email.

8.2 We may discontinue the points program entirely. If we do, we will give at least 90 days' notice — and, if redemption has launched, a redemption window — before points are cancelled.

8.3 Changes do not apply retroactively to reduce points you have already validly earned, except where forfeited under Section 7.

9. Taxes

Any tax consequence of a benefit you receive is yours. Where a benefit is reportable, we may issue the applicable tax form.

10. Disputes

Sections 19 and 20 of the Terms of Use apply — including individual arbitration, the class action waiver, the 30-day informal-resolution requirement and your right to opt out of arbitration within 30 days. If you validly opted out of arbitration under the Terms of Use, that election also applies to disputes about points and membership.

Communications Terms (Email; SMS only where enabled)

Effective: August 9, 2026 · Last updated: August 9, 2026

1. Types of message we send

TypeCan you turn it off?
Transactional — order confirmation, shipping, delivery, returns, refunds, account security, password reset, legal and safety notices, recall noticesNo, while you have an account or an open order. These are not marketing.
Marketing — newsletter, product updates, promotions, creator program newsYes, at any time
Community — replies, mentions, task notificationsYes, in your notification settings

2. Email

2.1 How you subscribe

By ticking an un-pre-checked box when you register, at checkout, or on a signup form, or by requesting the newsletter directly. Subscribing is never a condition of any purchase or of using the Service.

2.2 What we send

The newsletter, new-product coverage, rankings, community highlights and occasional promotions. Frequency varies; typically no more than a few times a week.

2.3 How to unsubscribe

Click Unsubscribe in the footer of any marketing email, or use [Manage subscriptions] in your account. We process unsubscribes within 10 business days, and usually immediately. You do not need to log in or give a reason to unsubscribe.

2.4 What every marketing email from us contains

  • an accurate "From" name and address, and a subject line that is not misleading;
  • an identification that it is an advertisement where required;
  • our physical postal address: MetaOriental Technology Inc., 61 W 62nd Street, 8H, New York, NY 10023;
  • a clear and functioning unsubscribe mechanism that stays live for at least 30 days after sending.

2.5 We do not

Sell, rent or share your email address for another party's marketing; use harvested or purchased lists; use deceptive headers or subject lines; or require a payment, an account or the disclosure of other information as a condition of unsubscribing.

3A. Where we send messages

Our email and SMS programs are operated for recipients in the United States. We do not direct or market them to recipients in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, and we do not knowingly send marketing messages to a recipient we know to be located there — see Terms of Use §3.5. If you are located in one of those regions, please do not subscribe; if you already have, unsubscribe using the link in any message, or email support@metaoriental.com and we will remove you.

4. Push and in-app notifications

Controlled in your device settings and in your account notification preferences. Turning off push does not turn off email or SMS.

5. Records of your consent

We record when you subscribed, what the consent text said and its version, the page you subscribed on, your IP address and device, and the channel and identifier you consented for. We retain this for the life of the relationship plus the applicable limitation period, so we can show what you agreed to.

6. Third parties

We use email and SMS delivery providers acting on our instructions. They may not use your information for their own purposes. See the Privacy Policy.

7. If you receive a message you did not sign up for

Tell us: legal@metaoriental.com. We will stop immediately, look into how it happened, and tell you what we find. We treat this as a serious failure, not a routine complaint.

8. Changes and contact

We update these Terms with a new "Last updated" date and notice for material changes. MetaOriental Technology Inc., 61 W 62nd Street, 8H, New York, NY 10023 · support@metaoriental.com · legal@metaoriental.com

Beta Service Notice

Effective: August 9, 2026 · Last updated: August 9, 2026

MetaOriental is in beta. The badge next to our logo is not decoration — this page explains what it actually means for you.

1. What "beta" means here

The Service is under active development. Features, data, layouts and policies change frequently, sometimes without notice.

We are still a real business with real obligations. Beta status does not reduce our responsibilities where you buy something from us, where we pay a creator, or where the law imposes a duty. It is a statement about maturity, not a disclaimer of accountability.

2. What may be incomplete or wrong

AreaWhat to expect
Product dataSpecifications, images, compatibility and claims may be incomplete, outdated or incorrect
Prices and availabilityIndicative and last checked at the time shown on the page. The seller's price at checkout controls.
RankingsMethodology, signals and weightings are being refined; positions may move for reasons unrelated to a product
CommunityVolume is still building; polls are unscientific and self-selected
Creator featuresAttribution, dashboards and task flows are being developed; interface figures are estimates, not final payable amounts
Search and recommendationsCoverage is uneven; absence of a product means nothing about its quality
AvailabilityDowntime, maintenance windows and errors are more likely than in a mature service

3. Things we may change or remove

We may add, change, suspend or discontinue any feature, category, ranking, community area or program, and we may reset non-essential data during development.

Where a change would materially affect you, we will give reasonable notice:

ChangeNotice
Discontinuing the points program90 days, with a redemption window — see Membership & Points Terms §8.2
Changing how the points program worksWe will not retroactively reduce points you have already earned — see Membership & Points Terms §8.3. Material changes to the program going forward receive 30 days' notice
Discontinuing the creator programReasonable notice; amounts already earned under an accepted Task Rule remain payable
Material changes to termsNotice, and re-acceptance — a material change does not bind you until you accept it, see Terms of Use §17.3

These notice commitments prevail over the general change clause in the Terms of Use §16.3 for the changes listed here. Section 16.3 says notice is not a condition of a change taking effect; for the four rows above, it is.

4. What beta does not excuse

Beta status does not limit or excuse:

  • our obligations to you as seller where a page names MetaOriental or its designated entity as seller — see Terms of Sale;
  • our obligation to pay undisputed earned compensation under an accepted Task Rule — see Creator & Affiliate Terms §10;
  • our obligations under privacy and data protection law;
  • our product-safety and recall obligations — see Product Safety & Recalls;
  • any liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence.

5. Please tell us what is broken

Beta works only if you tell us what is wrong.

6. Related terms

The disclaimers in Terms of Use §13 and the limitation of liability in §14 apply, subject to the carve-outs stated there and in Section 4 above.
